West Catholic High School Interim Principal Jack Young has announced he has accepted the position of principal at Coleman High School in Coleman, Michigan. We accepted his resignation with regret and accommodated Coleman's request that it be effective immediately.
A statement received from Jack is as follows:
"After much thoughtful consideration, I have decided to take on the new challenge of principal at Coleman high school. I am thankful for my time at West Catholic, working with Tom Maj and all the faculty and staff. I sincerely appreciate all the support I've received over the years from the West Catholic community."
Jack graduated from Catholic Central and served for many years in various faculty and administrative positions at CC and West before being appointed associate principal, then interim principal at West. He has been a respected figure at both schools and his leadership will be missed.
West Catholic Social Studies Department Head Ms. Cindy Kneibel will assume responsibilities of interim principal, having also submitted her application for the permanent position. Cindy earned her BA from Georgetown University and holds a master’s degree from Aquinas College. She has taught religion and social studies classes at West Catholic for eight years and has been very active serving the school and the West Catholic community, including as adviser to Student Government and the Robotics Team. She also is a tireless volunteer, and as a past student activities director she was involved in such causes as community blood drives and the annual All A’s Walk fundraiser. Her teaching responsibilities will be assumed by West Catholic alumna Ms. Emilee (Tanis) Lowell.
We are confident that West Catholic will see continued success under Ms. Kneibel’s capable leadership, and with assistance from WC graduate and Dean of Students Tony Fischer, our school and our community will be well served.
With solid interim leadership in place, we will continue our search for a candidate with outstanding credentials who as principal will lead West Catholic High School into the decades ahead with enthusiasm and passion for Catholic school education. We appreciate your prayers of support and will keep the community updated on the progress of that search.
Sincerely,
Rev R. Louis Stasker, Pastor Tom Maj, President
