The Grand Rapids Catholic Secondary School Admissions Department offers several events to prospective parents and students so they can obtain valuable information about our high schools, ask questions and get a feel for what a day in the life of a student is like. Here are some brief descriptions of the events we offer.
Preview and Parent Information Nights The Catholic Secondary Schools offer three of these information gathering events per year at each high school. Parents are invited to join us at the high school for an evening of presentations and a brief tour. They may ask questions and obtain valuable information. These events have been a successful tool in helping parents with their high school decision making process.
Budgeting Workshop for Catholic Education Chemical Bank is very interested in assisting families afford a Catholic education. Chemical Bank and Catholic Secondary Schools have teamed up and developed a "Budgeting Workshop for Catholic Education" which is available to all parents with students in Preschool up to High School. This workshop will assist parents and guardians desiring a Catholic Education for their children with creating a budget and a financial plan to achieve this goal. To register for this event, please email mindywhiteside@grcss.org or call (616) 233-5918.
7th & 8th Grade Visit In an effort to familiarize 7-8th grade students with the offerings at both of our high schools, we invite them to join us at our Junior High Visit. While there, students are exposed to many facets of the school and have the opportunity to tour it as well. This offers them a chance to feel what a day in the life of a high school student is like. To register for this event, please contact Christine O'Driscoll, Catholic Central Advancement Director at (616) 233-5816 christineo'driscoll@grcss.org, or Mindy Whiteside, West Catholic Advancement Director at (616) 233-5918 mindywhiteside@grcss.org. Partner elementary school students will be invited to this event through their respective school.
Freshman Parent Registration Night This event takes place at each high school. Parents will have the opportunity to schedule their personal registration appointment with a counselor along with receiving some valuable information from various speakers.
5/6th Grade Music Fest This has been a popular event where we showcase the talents of our high school choirs, bands, orchestra and drama department. We offer this experience so that the students may start to feel like they are part of our Catholic Secondary School family.
